Delete Files Permanently Before Someone Finds Them

Chatting with a businessman on a long plane ride a short time ago the subject of computer privacy came up. He said he often goes online for "entertainment" and often comes across things he really doesn't intend to download and keep on his computer and was curious about how to ensure those files are not still sitting on his computer's hard drive for someone else to find later. He was right to be concerned and that's not the first time I've heard these types of worries from active Internet users.

Truth be told all types of people enjoy surfing the web for adult material (although few might admit to such things). If you're one of them, you should be aware that your computer might be recording your online surfing and downloading habits without your even realizing it. Even if you delete files, pictures, and video clips doesn't mean they are removed from your computer's hard drive. Computers just don't work that way.

Questionable and  potentially embarrassing adult files that you thought you deleted recently or even long ago may still be lurking on your computer's hard disk drive. If you expect to really get that stuff off your computer, especially before someone else finds it, you need to take action now to do so. Even many non tech savvy people know how to dig up the sites you've been to online, the naughty pictures you've viewed or the questionable files you've downloaded, even if you're sure you deleted them or even moved them off your computer a while ago.

The fact is moved and even deleted files are likely still sitting there right on your computer for any snoop with a bit of curiosity to locate with even the simplest of computer snooping software. If you want to protect yourself from embarrassment or worse, you'll have to do something right now to get rid of these types of files, pictures, videos, and downloads. Simply deleting them files can leave you exposed to more trouble than they're worth. You'll need special software to delete files permanently...but it won't help unless you actually use it. And tomorrow might be one day too late.
